San Portablo is back in Town

The 1901 Stall is back in town in the heart of San Portablo - the Aberafan Shopping Centre - Come on down and shoot the breeze....

There are a few irons in the fire that you might want to hear about  - the 1901 team went to Berlin in the winter break. Whilst mooching about Alexander Platz, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, Komische Theatre, Templehof, Mitte.

We hooked up with the 1927 Theatre Company over in Berlin. 1927 were commisioned by the Komische Opera House to produce Igor Stravinsky's fantastic Petruska.

They produced something which was truly tremendous...an interpretation which is all at once electric and unique, a truly original visual delight. Top, top respect... Penguin hats off to Paul Barritt and Suzanne Andrade.

1927 have asked 1901 to design a t-shirt for their forthcoming autumn 2017 tour of their amazing Golum production.

We are landed to have been given the opportunity to work alongside 1927 and look forward to working with those crazy penguins and getting a collection out there...

1901 is now working on an exciting  2017 San Portablo Collection of designs and already a Grand Hotel, Ron Evans pie mash up is almost ready to roll.

1901 is also working on a design for the Plaza Cinema, featuring Monstro the Whale and his gaggle of Aberafan Penguins...

The design will have a San Portablo Shakespeare Society theme celebrating the cultural history of the patrons of the Plaza, such as John Hurt (RIP John) who starred as Winston alongside Richard Burton's O'Brian in the Film 1984, and also starred as John Merrick in David Lynch's seminal 1980 classic (along with another legendary San Portablo Shakespeare Society member Anthony Hopkins) The Elephant Man.

Expect to see the Plaza finally breathing some life and some colour...

In 1984 - amongst other things The Trendy Subculture that was coming from the terraces of football stadiums was at its peak - and the Plaza Cafe with its juke box, arcade games, bandits, hot milk, and Ron Evans pies - was attracting teenagers from across the borough - lots of whom have been loyal customers to this label...

not unlike the characters that went to Selwyn Jenkins for all of their sports gear....

We would like to thank all our loyal customers who have helped us through the 2016/17 winter and all those that have sent in their snaps from around the globe to our Facebook page...

Big up to Richard in Islington who has told us that he will happily wait for the rerun of the Selwyn Jenkins Design in spring...

In the meantime, come and visit the stall in town - we have a great range of San Portablo 1901 t-shirts sweaters and Hoodies including the classic Shunk design in Welsh Red and The Fabulous Maes Vegas T Shirts available in all sizes and colour, plus a whole load of other designs in T's, Sweats and Hoodies...

If you say the word Blog with any purchase we'll throw in a bonus pin badge free of charge- how do you like those Penguins?
