San Portablo is back in Town

The 1901 Stall is back in town in the heart of San Portablo - the Aberafan Shopping Centre - Come on down and shoot the breeze....    There are a few irons in the fire that you might want to hear about  - the 1901 team went to Berlin in the winter break. Whilst mooching about Alexander Platz, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, Komische Theatre, Templehof, Mitte. We hooked up with the 1927 Theatre Company over in Berlin. 1927 were commisioned by the Komische Opera House to produce Igor Stravinsky's fantastic Petruska. They produced something which was truly tremendous...an interpretation which is all at once electric and unique, a truly original visual delight. Top, top respect... Penguin hats off to Paul...

WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA SHUNK?

It was during the filming of "Reflections in a Golden eye" in 1967 that Marlon Brando would first become acquainted with The San Portablo Shakespeare Society via Elizabeth Taylor.  Brando also became firm friends with Taylor's husband Richard Burton.  The closeness of Brando and Taylor's friendship ensured that the trios relationship was often tempestuous. When Taylor won her second Oscar for "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf" in 1967, she was unable to collect her award in person due to filming "The Comedians" on location with Burton in Dahomey, Africa. January End Of Aberafan Shopping Centre Winter Stall

Sadly the Stall in the Shopping centre has come to an end for now - 1901 would like to thank everyone that visited the stall and gave us the turnover to bring out exciting new designs including San Portablo Strikes Back, Miami Beach, Happy Shunk and Maes Vegas - as well as a re run of the of the Tidy, Lush and a Double re run of the Shunk Design... The Stall had visitors from some far flung places and of course the loyal band of 1901 that flew the San Portablo Flag throughout 2016.... San Portablo Detroit Customers visit Aberafan Shopping Centre

Stall Life in Aberafan Shopping Centre has been varied since October - We have had visitors from around the World, Gdansk, Tel Aviv, Perth, Melbourne, Canada - but this week as we approach Xmas we had a visit from Peter Scott who left San Portablo and the troubador behind in the mid 80's to make a life in New York - he has been living in the Motor City of Detroit for the last 6 years and he came along to buy a Shunk and San Portablo T shirt.... Peter told us about Detroit and New York living - we have a common interest in Boxing and he had visited the Kronk Gym and met Milton McCory who fought Colin...
